Novice to 1st Mon (Red Belt + 1 Yellow Tab)
Technical Content:
1). Demonstration of Ukemi
2). Demonstration of Tai-Otoshi
3). Demonstration of Mune-Gatame
Japanese Terminology & Etiquette:
1).State Country of Origin of Judo
2).Translate: Rei, Hajime & Matte
1st Mon to 2nd Mon (Red Belt + 2 Yellow Tabs)
Technical Content:
1). Demonstration of Ukemi
2). Demonstration of BasicLeft & Right handed Grips in a Standing Position.
3). Demonstration of Ouchi-Gari
4). Demonstration of kesa-Gatame
5). Demonstration of Tachi-Waza Combination (candidate's own choice of throws from the syllabus)
6). Tachi-Waza into Ne-Waza(candidate's own choice of throws from the syllabus).

2nd Mon to 3rd Mon (Red Belt + 3 Yellow Tabs)

4). Kami-Shiho-Gatame.

2). Translate: Osae-Komi & Toketa
6th Mon Yellow Belt 3 Tabs to 7th Mon Orange Belt + 1 Red Tab (& higher grades).

Kyu Grade Syllabus (Seniors)
Novice to 9th Kyu = Novice to Yellow Belt.
Demonstrate & Translate:
Demonstrate: O-Goshi (Major Hip Throw). Kuzure-Kesa-Gatame (Broken Scarf Hold).
Ude-Garami (Arm Entanglement).
Translate: Hajime, Matte, Osaekomi, Toketa.
9th Kyu to 8th Kyu - Yellow Belt to Orange Belt.
Demonstrate & Translate:
Demonstrate: Tsuri-Komi-Goshi (Lift-Pull Hip Throw). O-Uchi-Gari (Major Inner Reaping). Escape from between the opponents legs and follow through into any hold-down.
Translate: Sonomama, Yoshi, Ippon, Waza-Ari.
8th Kyu to 7th Kyu - Orange Belt to Top Orange Belt.
Demonstrate & Translate:
Demonstrate: Ippon-Seoi-Nage (One Arm Shoulder Throw). Ko-Uchi-Gari (Minor Inner Reaping). Kuzure-Kami-Shiho-Gatame (Broken Upper Four Quarters Hold). Hadaka-Jime (Naked Strangle). Quote Three Contest Rules.
Translate: Waza-Ari-Awasete-Ippon, Soremade, Yuko, Koka
7th Kyu to 6th Kyu - Orange Belt to Green Belt.
Demonstrate & Translate:
Demonstrate: O-Soto-Gari (Major Outer Reaping). Harai-Goshi (Sweeping Hip Throw). Hon-Kesa-Gatame (Basic Scarf Hold). Okuri-Eri-Jime (Sliding Lapel Strangle). Ju-Ji-Gatame (Cross Arm Locl). Quote Four prohibited Acts from the BJA Rule Book.
Translate: Hiki-Wake, Shido, Chui.
6th Kyu to 5th Kyu - Green Belt to Top Green Belt.
Demonstrate & Translate:
Demonstrate: Tai-Otoshi (Body Drop). Uchi-Mata (Inner Thigh Throw). Hon-Yoko-Shiho-Gatame (Basic Side Four Quarters Hold). Kata-Gatame (Shoulder Hold). Koshi-Jime (Hip Strangle). Waki-Gatame (Arm-pit Hold). Demonstrate the "Freeing" of a trapped leg when in groundwork. Link Four groundwork / grappling techniques together.
Translate: Keikoku, Hansoku-Make, & Demonstrate the Referee's signal for Passivity / non-combativity. And, for indicating that the competitor must re-adjust their Judogi.
5th Kyu to 4th Kyu - Green Belt to Blue Belt.
Demonstrate & Translate:
Demonstrate: Morote-Seoi-Nage (Two Handed Shoulder Throw). Ko-Soto-Gari (Minor Outer Reaping). Hiza-Guruma (Knee Wheel). Ushiro-Kesa-Gatame (Reverse Scarf Hold). Demonstrate Ushiro-Kesa-Gatame linked to Ju-Ji-Gatame. Quote seven prohibited acts.
Translate: Rei, Dojo, Judogi, Judoka.
4th to 3rd Kyu - Blue Belt to Top Blue Belt.
Demonstrate & Translate:
Demonstrate: Tomoe-Nage (Stomach Throw / Swirling Throw). Sumi-Gaeshi (Corner Counter Throw). Kata Guruma (Shoulder Wheel Throw). San-Gaku-Jime (3 Angle Strangle / Triangle Strangle). Hon-Tate-Shiho-Gatame (Basic Lengthwise Four-Quarters Hold). Ude-Gatame (Straight Arm-Lock, known as Ude-Hishigi-Gatame). These three grappling techniques to be linked (on the move).
Translate: Tachi-Waza, Ne-Waza, Randori, Shiai, Kata.
3rd to 2nd Kyu - Blue Belt to Brown Belt.
Demonstrate & Translate:
Demonstrate: O-Guruma. (Major Wheel) Te-Guruma. (Hand Wheel) Tani-Otoshi. (Valley Drop) Kata-Ha-Jime. (Single Wing Strangle) Makura-Kesa-Gatame. (Pillow Scarf Hold) Demonstrate these two as links on the move.
Translate: Shime-Waza. Kansetsu-Waza. Tori. Uke.
2nd Kyu to 1st Kyu - Brown Belt to Top Brown Belt.
Demonstrate & Translate:
Demonstrate: Sasae-Tsuri-Komi-Ashi (Propping, Lifting & Pulling Foot Throw). Harai-Tsuri-Komi-Ashi (Sweeping, Lifting & Pulling Foot Throw). Okuri-Ashi-Barai (Sliding Foot Sweep Throw). Yoko-Guruma (Side Wheel Throw). Link Hon-Tate-Shiho-Gatame to Kuzure-Tate-Shiho-Gatame (on the move, with an active, struggling partner).
